Deal or No Deal by Caleb-Eshetu Deal or No Deal by Caleb-Eshetu
An illustration I created for the :icondisney-club: Extra's contest. The extra is in the middle from the classic Disney film, The Sword in the Stone (1963). The extra was a rather obese knight among other knights laughing at the future King Arthur not believing that he was the one that lifted the mysterious sword from the stone. The screenshot is in the link: i0.wp.com/caps.pictures/196/3-…

This illustration also features a caricature of my younger brother who is on the left with the afro and sideburns. It started out a challenge as I did not want to just draw a floating caricature character of my brother so when I found  this contest I decided to use him as well as the Disney extra to create a scene. The man all the way on the right is also taken from reality. It is a caricature of David Hayter who is an actor, director, screenwriter and voice actor. He did the voice of Lupin in Hayao Miyazaki's first feature film, The Castle of Cagliostro (1979) which is one of my favourite films. In the extra's (no pun intended) on the Blu-ray which was released this year he did a great interview and I paused it and drew a very exaggerated caricature of him.

This scene takes place in a dark room in some apartment building where a decision must be made among the characters. The Disney knight extra and David Hayter offer my fro bro some sort of deal/job in which he ponders over. The way I drew the room was inspired in particular by a great French gangster film called Le Samourai(1967) directed by Jean-Pierre Melville.

For the extra points the colours pink, orange and green are in the picture. There is also the Uncommon Character Type in that the extra is overweight.

Wow, that's interesting to see the extra in a different era. I can't make it from which movie you're drawing before I read your description. It's very suitable to see him offering some kind of dirty job (is it?) as well. :D

This is definitely a unique twist on the prompt! Nice work! Your style is awesome and the lighting is fantastic. It's interesting that the 'extra' character isn't the one in the spotlight. :)

Very unique idea. You not only created a new scene, but placed your extra in a completely different genera and brought in new characters for him to interact with. I like that the image tells its own story.
The style you used is great. It goes perfectly with the style used in Sword and the Stone as well as the noir/gangster theme you're going for.

It's cool that you put your chosen extra into a completely different genre entirely! That's a very unique choice compared to the other entries.
I like how the scene is lighted, and it certainly tells its own little story with the little objects lying about. Well done!
